Subject : Signature Campaign on Objection to the Conversion of an Apartment Block to Hotel, New Office Block and the Use of SS2/104 as Access Road

Dear Residents,

This is to inform you that the objection campaign against developer Dijaya Corp’s proposal to convert an apartment block to hotel and to use 2/104 as an access road had successfully collected 471 signatures with another 130 individual objections by residents staying nearest to the project site, including 11 who had received AR registered letter issued by MBPJ. In addition, Mr. Tan Lai Hock has also campaigned to get objections based on technical / legal grounds from some members of the original group of residents who were actively involved since 2005.

10 sets of formal objection letters complete with signatures were compiled and sent to Datuk Bandar MBPJ, Minister of Housing & Local Government, Selangor Menteri Besar, YB Tuan Tony Pua, YB ADUN and other parties concerned on 9 Mac 2011, a day before the deadline. Please refer to the complete list in the scanned copy of the letter attached together with all the acknowledgement stamps.

The Security Committee wishes to take this opportunity to thank all committee members, member-residents and concerned individuals including Mr. & Mrs. CJ Chuah, Tan Lai Hock, Phang Ah Lek, Foo Kok Wan, Carol Lai and many others for their full cooperation and hard work in the campaigning. Special thanks to Carol Lai and her husband who photocopied and comb-bound the letters and the signatures to about 1" thick for circulation.

Rest be assured that the SS2D Security Committee will stand by you and continue to pursue on this matter until hopefully an agreeable settlement is reached.

Thank you.
Yours truly,
Security Committee

Objection to the Construction of TroPicana Hotel, New Office Block and the Use of SS2/104 as Access Road

Dear Residents,

The Security Committee regrets to inform you that developer Dijaya Corporation Bhd / Tropicana City Sdn Bhd has proposed to build an 18 storey TroPicana Hotel block (consisting of 5 storey Podium and 13 storey Hotel), 9 storey Office block and other Car Park facilities just beside the Tropicana City Mall adjacent to Jalan SS2/113. In their proposed plan, it clearly shows that Jalan SS2/104 will be used as an access road. (Please refer to the development plans attached.)

For your information, MBPJ has already put up a notice board at the site citing the developer’s application to convert the land status from the original residential to commercial use. It states that all neighbouring land/property owners who have any objection to that proposal are required to lodge their objection in writing to Datuk Bandar, MBPJ by 10 Mac 2011.

As you know, the area where we stay is high density enough and has already been over developed. The construction of that huge commercial project and the opening up of Jalan SS2/104 as an access road through a residential area will surely pose many problems to the residents which will :

(a) Greatly compromise the overall security of our area, especially from Jalan SS2/95 to Jalan SS2/113. It will certainly aggravate existing security problems with numerous taxis, strangers going in and out, making security control extremely difficult. It will also pose higher safety risks to residents who daily use the SS2/104 park (taman) as their recreation ground;

(b) Destroy the serenity and peacefulness of our established housing estate/neighbourhood;

(c) Cause excessive & unnecessary traffic jam/congestion along the inner roads of SS2 and in turn along the LDP which is already highly congested presently. It will also undoubtedly create noise as well as air pollution from exhaust & dust which is a real health issue. Haphazard parking will unfortunately be unavoidable!

The Security Committee is now organizing a signature campaign to strongly object to this huge development at our door step for the good of our family and the community. We appeal to you and your neighbours to join force with us in supporting this campaign to protect the residents’ interests and to sign this petition/protest letter immediately. We must work together and be united in one voice to make the campaign a successful one.

All supporting signatures will be forwarded to MBPJ and the developer as soon as possible before the deadline on 10 Mac 2011.

We thank you for your valuable support.

Invitation to Join SS2D Security Committee

Dear Residents,

The participation rate of security members in SS2D still remains at only 42.1% despite various efforts put in through news vide the web-site, Monthly Meet-The-Resident, direct contact with MBPJ Councillor to solve problems, etc.

For comparison, SS2-C2 covering 2/2-2/75-2/80-2/95 has already achieved 52.5% on their launching day on 29 Jan 2011.

We are sure you will agree that we require more manpower and resources to recruit new members from the residents, in order to exceed a minimum target of 51%.

At the same time, the Security Committee (SC) has decided to increase the committee members by at least another 5 persons. We would now extend an invitation to you to join us. Please email us or contact any Committee Member if you would like to be part of the team in this voluntary exercise to enhance the security of our neighbourhood.

The SC meets twice a month, on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of every month at Restoran Ibrahim Maju, Jalan SS2/72 (nearby Ken Condominium).

Thank you very much.
