Meeting / Walkabout with MBPJ Councillor

Dear Residents,

We wish to inform you that the Security Committee had met up with the MBPJ Councillor, Mr. Tony Cheong last Tuesday and subsequently had a walkabout at SS2D.

Below were some of the issues raised:

  • Pruning/trimming tree branches;
  • Resurfacing of major roads at SS2/2, 2/88, 2/103 and 2/107 (other roads will be arranged later);
  • Additional 26 nos. street lights (as per attached map);
  • No U-Turn from LDP to SS 2/2 towards SS2/107;
  • To repair/replace exercise equipment which are worn out, rusty and pose a danger to users at SS2/92 & 2/111 play fields;
  • To re-turf some portions of the play fields;
  • Problems related to partial removal of SS2/2 sound barrier wall;
  • Residents' objection to use Jalan SS2/104 as an entry road to the Tropicana City Complex;
  • To construct speed breaker along SS2/95 in front of the school (SK Taman SEA).

We are glad to note that SS2D Resident Association has the proper platform to seek meeting or dialogue with local authorities/Police/MP/ADUN/Councillor to discuss community issues not confining only to security.

Therefore, we would like to appeal to you to convince your neighbours to join the security scheme as soon as possible so that our voice can be heard louder and stronger.

Thank you very much.

Security Committee,
SS2D.

SS2D Security Scheme: Quarterly Payment for Nov, Dec 2010 & Jan 2011

08 October 2010

RE: QUARTERLY PAYMENT DUE (NOVEMBER, DECEMBER 2010 & JANUARY 2011)

Dear Members/Neighbours.

We are glad to inform you that for the last 3 months, we did not receive any report on any crime in our own neighbourhood. This is mainly due to the close working relationship between our Security guards and the Police whose personnel are still stationed in our area. We greatly appreciate that the SEA Park OCS, Inspector Gunam Resul has personally placed the Police personnel in our neighbourhood and we would like to thank him.

The Hari Raya/Moon Cake Festival dinner held on Sunday, 19 September 2010, was a resounding success and we are very happy to see the residents enjoying themselves with the good food and the right atmosphere. In this aspect, we have achieved one of our initial objectives to bring the residents together and to socialise with their neighbours.

Selamat Hari Raya and Happy Tang Long (Mid Autumn) Festival

Welcome to the 1st dinner organised by the Security Committee of SS2 D and sponsored by YB Dr. Cheah ADUN, Damansara Utama and Tony Cheong, MBPJ Councillor of SS2.
This is the first time we organised this function since the Security Scheme was implemented on 1 February, 2010. We are glad that this is happening and we are able to invite our neighbours to meet and gather together in a cordial, friendly atmosphere to celebrate these dual festivals. We hope this will be the forerunner of more Gathering for our Neighbourhood.

The main objectives of this function are:

· to get together,

· to know each other better,

· to mix and socialise between families and neighbours in our area.

By doing so, we get better cooperation between neighbour and extend help to each other in a friendly and willing manner, thereby enhancing the security of our neighbourhood.

BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THE FORMATION OF THE SS2 D SECURITY SCHEME

· On 13th October 2009 a meeting was held with the President and committee members of Persatuan Penduduk Sektor SS2 Utara (known as Resident Association, Sector SS2, Utara). At the meeting, the President with the concurrence of the Committee, had given approval to residents of SS2 Utara, Zone D, to form a sub-committee to look into the security matters of SS2 Utara, Zone D and thereafter to run the security scheme.

· On 18 Oct 09, a Pro tem committee was formed

· On 9 Jan 2010, 1st AGM was held and the official committee was formed

· On 1st February 2010, the security scheme commenced.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SECURITY PROGRAMME

1. To provide safety to the residents. (due to increasing crimes, e.g. house break-in, robbery at early morning/evening)

2. To create a peaceful living condition and to foster closer ties among (getting to know our) neighbours (through organising of events during festive periods)

WHAT IS THE RESPONSE RATE?

Initially only 80 households signed up but by the launch date, the number increased to 120. However, inspite of the small number, we proceeded with it. In addition, the hardworking committee members took time off from their weekends and went house to house to canvass for more residents to participate. We are glad to announce that we have 280 households participating in the security scheme now.

We hope with closer cooperation the number would increase to over 500 strong out of 680 houses. Without the bigger support, we will not be able to implement what we set out to achieve, i.e to have 4 guard posts with boom-gates and proper guard posts. We are confident that we will be able to meet this target with your support to persuade the fence-sitters to join in.

We also seek you assistance to get more members to sit in the Committee to assist us.

CRIME RATE

When we first started in Feb 2010, we were aware that residents were concerned about the security of their houses during the Chinese New Year period with many of them going overseas for holidays or outstation during the festive season. With that in mind, the committee instructed the security company to beef up the manpower by providing an additional 3 security guards for a period of 10 days (Friday, 12 Feb to Monday, 21 Feb). An additional guard house was put up along Jalan SS2/106 junction with Jalan SS2/107 to reinforce the patrolling. The security company also provided a Guard Dog nightly (with no additional cost) to patrol the whole area.

We are pleased to inform that no incident occurred during this period.

However in the month of July, there was a sudden surge of break-ins, the peak being 4 break-ins in 1 day. Since we have very close rapport with the Police and this is clearly seen when we seek their assistance to place their personnel in our area. They placed the Police post at the corner of Jalan SS2/2 and Jalan SS 2/103, as according to them, this is the entrance and exit of the LDP to our area and served as an access road for the criminals. Their presence has boosted the confidence of the residents.

We need to continue with our target of having security guard stationed at each of the security post (we have identified 4 security posts) with drop gates from 12 mid-night to 6 am daily. In addition, we need to have 2 set of guards to patrol the area thereby increasing the frequency of patrolling.

NEXT PLAN OF ACTION

1. To install drop gates at all the 4 entries/exit from 12 mid-night to 6 am daily

2. To man all these drop gates areas with our security guards

3. To record the movements of all the motor cycles entering our areas

DONATION/CONTRIBUTION

In order to achieve our objectives of making this place safe and peaceful living conditions, we need donation from the residents. Kindly donate generously so that the residents have a PEACE OF MIND.

SPECIAL THANK YOU
